KTM & Thales join forces to bring you Moonshield

KTM Advance is proud to announce its latest production in the field of serious games, Moonshield for Thales. Scheduled for release in October 2008.

Moonshield is an exciting online management/strategy game, developed in Flash, which projects the player into the near future, where he or she will have to use signature Thales technologies to defend the Earth from a deadly meteor shower that could destroy all civilization.

The player takes command of a lunar base designed and built to protect the Earth from killer asteroids, and must develop the base and expand its capabilities to cope with the threat from the heavens.

The game becomes progressively more challenging as the player gains skill & confidence.

Storyline

01_285On a beautiful Earth-lit night in August 2029, the sensors of the lunar base MOONSHIELD are tracking the killer asteroid “201P WILD”. With a diameter of over 800km 201P is the size of a small planet, and all eyes are riveted on holographic screens, as the asteroid plunges at 50km / s toward Mars.

Earthbound scientists have estimated the probability of an impact of 201P & Mars at 0,001% ... but more recent calculations made at Moonshield are a far more alarming 5%! How could the asteroid have deviated from its path in so short a time? Tension is running high.

04_285And soon, whether it was one chance in twenty or one in one hundred thousand makes no difference, as 201P is caught in the gravitational field of the Red Planet, and under the horrified eyes of mankind the collision of the two bodies give birth to myriad asteroids hurtling toward the inner solar system - straight toward the Earth!

The moon base is placed under your responsibility. You will have to think quickly and use everything at your disposal to save the blue planet!

As commander of Moonshield, you can call on all the scientific resources of the Thales group to help you make the best possible decisions.
