Launched in autumn 2008, the serious game Moonshield was produced by KTM Advance for Thales. This is a management-strategy game developed in Flash, introduces the player to the world of Thales, a global leader in defense, security, aerospace and transportation technologies. Thales' objective with Moonshield was to offer the group's its recruitment targets an an engaging, innovative tool to discover the company and its numerous sectors of activity.

The online version of Moonshield, which already boasts over 400,000 games played since its launch, can still be played at http://www.moonshield.com/.

Thales continues to pursue its innovative recruitment communication strategy with the launch of Moonshield on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch mobile platforms. Moonshield can be downloaded free on the Apple App Store (http://itunes.apple.com/fr/app/moonshield/id387682262?mt=8) since 13 September 2010. Moonshield has since then been downloaded over 17,000 times.

The porting of Moonshield the Apple mobile platforms was performed by Playsoft (mobile agency and video game design studio) and supported by KTM Advance, which developed the original game. This mobile version of the game is faithful to the web version of Moonshield: online players will still encounter the depth of gameplay and richness of the Moonshield universe they have come to appreciate, while new mobile players will be able to play anywhere, any time, and join the Moonshield community  on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/MoonshieldTHALES) directly from their Apple iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch.

Wealth of Features, Cutting-edge Graphics: Confirmed Sustainability and Success

With its depth of play, dynamic difficulty level (the difficulty increases as the player progresses in
skills) and sophisticated graphics worthy of the greatest video games: the serious game Moonshield was already a true innovation in 2008. The mobile version has been developed in a spirit of total fidelity to the original game with optimized usability for mobile platforms.

The Principle of the Game
Moonshield is a management/strategy game which projects the player into the near future, where he or she will have to use signature Thales technologies to defend the Earth from a deadly meteor shower that could destroy all civilization. As commander of Moonshield, the player can call on all the scientific resources of the Thales group (presented in short video sequences in the game) to help him or her make the best possible decisions.

Nearly two years later, the online versio of Moonshield is still a hit with more than 400,000 games played worldwide since October 2008.
Moreover, Thales has registered more than 100,000 referrals to from the game site (http://www.moonshield.com/) to the Thales Group Recruitment website
(http://www.jobs.thalesgroup.com/)

"Porting Serious Games to mobile platforms is a major breakthrough that we are proud to have achieved and  participated in. This innovation heralds the evolution of the market, which will see the development and availability of multi-platform serious games to suit the needs of all user profiles. Guaranteeing the same quality of development, maintaining the attractiveness of the graphics and richness of the main game, regardless of the platform, these are challenges that we take to heart at KTM Advance. " said Yves Dambach, CEO of KTM Advance.

Loïc Mahé, SVP, Human Resources, affirms: “In order to pursue its development, Thales is recruiting 4,000 people worldwide this year alone. Moonshield has been a great success ever since its launch, and making it available on new platforms allows us to extend our recruitment efforts and attract new talent – people who are curious and adventurous and will be a perfect fit for the exciting careers our company offers.”
