Handover-Takeover
Context:
In air traffic control, handover-takeover is a critical moment and can lead to various failures (in terms of errors, communication, etc.), which may subsequently cause incidents.
Eurocontrol wanted to implement a training program aimed at preventing such incidents.
Project Objectives:
• Place air traffic controllers in their environment and raise awareness of the risks and consequences incurred during handover-takeover, and the need to apply the rules properly
• Present solutions to help controllers avoid incidents
The Project:
KTM Advance proposed a training environment which presented realistic animated situations in an air traffic control environment (control tower, overflight, and approach control). The animations are highlighted by full voice off and realistic sound effects.
Each animated situation brings to light a different dysfunction or problem and helps raise the learner's awareness that even minor incidents can have consequences.
After the animation, the learner is confronted with several types of exercise.
